Following on from the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the FIA has stripped Russia of hosting a Grand Prix indefinitely.
The Russian Grand Prix at Sochi has been a fixture of the Formula One Season since 2014, and took advantage of the new infrastructure that was developed in the resort following the Winter Olympics.
Although the race itself was entertaining thanks to the complex circuit around the Olympic Park that featured multiple tricky corners, it has been a controversial inclusion in the calendar thanks to the political situation in Russia.
The race had been a Mercedes Specialty with the silver arrows triumphing at the circuit every year since 2014.
Lewis Hamilton had won the race 5 times, Valtteri Bottas taking two victories, and Nico Rosberg winning during his 2016 Championship winning season.
